Since winning the GetSetUp Startup Accelerator, Neeta has successfully expanded her porcelain painting business, Aria Arts. Thanks to the skills she acquired from GetSetUp, she's not only gained new social media followers and customers but also laid out exciting plans to further develop her product line in the coming year.

Investment in Business Growth

The prize money from the Accelerator has given Neeta's business a substantial boost. She carefully invests these funds, primarily in exhibitions to increase awareness of her art.

"I'm still using the prize money. I want to be economical with it and spend it in the best way possible. I'm using the money mostly to participate in exhibitions so that people know about my art. Exhibitions are good for word of mouth."

Neeta has also used part of the prize money to purchase special brushes and paints essential for her craft.

"In Portugal, there is an artist called Filipe Pereira. He has the best brushes, which I can't get here in India. In porcelain painting, the paint is not ready-made. I get a powder, and we mix it with a medium. It's basically like an oil, and the paint and medium from Portugal are the best. To gain a better respect for my art, these are the things I really need.”

Reaching New Milestones

Neeta's most significant sales occur during art shows, especially during festival seasons, where she typically sells all the pieces she exhibits. The skills she gained from GetSetUp’s digital media classes have played a vital role in her growing success. In the six months since completing the Accelerator program, her social media accounts have grown significantly—she gained 200 additional followers on Facebook and nearly doubled her followers on Instagram.

Neeta’s main goal after the Accelerator was to participate in more exhibitions, and she has exceeded this goal by participating in three exhibitions this year. She’s also started conducting workshops and seminars.

"Seven to eight porcelain painters are getting together in December for a three-day exhibition at the Aakar Art Gallery. The first one we did together was in 2017, with plans to gather every two years. But because of the pandemic, this is the first we've had since then. I like the show because you naturally exchange ideas with everybody, and you learn a lot from them."

Looking Ahead and Expanding Horizons

Looking forward, Neeta is excited about launching her e-commerce website, which will allow her to sell her artwork directly online and register students for her painting classes. She attributes much of her digital marketing success to the guidance she received from GetSetUp's classes, particularly those on social media and digital tools taught by Guide Raju.

"He told us all in detail how to use social media accounts like Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp for business purposes. And we learned to use Canva to make graphics for our social media accounts."

With her website set to go live in December, Neeta plans to leverage her newly acquired skills in boosting social media posts and exploring Google Ads to reach a broader audience. Additionally, she is passionate about teaching and plans to hold more painting classes, with a seminar already scheduled for January. Neeta also has plans to expand her product offerings to include decorative furniture, such as chair backs, table tops, and mirror frames, hoping to collaborate with interior designers.

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

For others considering starting a business later in life, Neeta offers this advice:

"I always say age is just a number. If you have the determination and the passion, you can do it."
