Introducing the Startup Accelerator Program
Today, we’re excited to announce the "Startup Accelerator Program." This initiative is designed to help you take your skills and ideas to the next level and build the business you’ve always dreamed of. Whether you're just starting, already have a business, or only have an idea written down, if you are passionate about your vision and sharing it with others, this program is for you.
For our first cohort in 2022, we are accepting applicants in four categories:
- Food and food-related businesses
- Training and coaching ideas
- Apparel and accessories business ideas (like starting an online store)
- Arts and crafts
Why Support Small Businesses in Our Community?
For a growing number of older adults, entrepreneurship offers a fulfilling path to finding both meaning and financial independence in the second half of life. We want to support our community members who aspire to become entrepreneurs. GetSetUp already offers a variety of classes that cover essential aspects of running a business, including marketing, social media, technology, and financial planning. The Startup Accelerator Program is the next step in our commitment to helping you succeed.
Program Details and How to Apply
The 12-week online program is available for free to all current and future members of GetSetUp. If you're over 55, have a business idea in one of the four categories, and are a resident of your country, you are eligible to apply. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about starting, growing, or scaling their business and who are committed to making a difference in their communities.
The application process is simple:
- Fill out the application form online, providing details about your business idea and the help you need.
- After submission, your entry will be reviewed, and eligible candidates will be invited for a video call interview.
- We will select 20 participants for the program, who will then have the opportunity to present their business ideas on demo day to a panel of experts.
Participants will receive a range of support, including business classes, mentorship, networking opportunities, and up to $10,000 in project funding. Additionally, ongoing support will be provided for one year to help your business thrive.
GetSetUp's Startup Accelerator Program not only provides older adults with the skills and support to start their own businesses but also fosters economic independence and community impact, empowering them to continue contributing meaningfully to the workforce.
