Anyone that excels in any role must be a good teacher to pass on that knowledge to their team! GetSetUp utilizes these essential teaching skills by hiring retired educators who we ‘re-skill’ to teach their peers (50+) technology and other essential skills so they can use apps and software with confidence!

GetSetUp has a solid team of Guides ready to help seniors learn from seniors, but in order to do that, we need a solid Academy Lead. This week we want to show our appreciation for our stellar Academy Lead, Judy, who not only acts as a teacher to our adult learners but also helps to educate and manage our Guides, provide consistency among Guides and across projects. She ensures successful classes with great Guides!

As she explained,

“I still teach some classes when we are testing new classes. I will teach to see if it is something we want to continue or not. I helped a man who offers home health services. He had bought G Suite for Business, but he didn’t know how to use all of the tools. So, he wanted an overview of G Suite to take him through how to use the apps and how to use it in his business. Classes are not a brain dump of every feature and function of the product. Rather, teachers with a strong understanding of the product apply that knowledge. Guides help class participants learn how to use the tool to solve a problem or satisfy a need they have. Getsetup’s personal instructors let students ask questions and go beyond just watching a video on the internet.”

Judy helps all of the Guides learn to identify their students’ pain points and help them solve their specific problems, a crucial factor that you can’t get from reading a manual or watching a Youtube video.

“It is very different to have instructor-led education versus more static led education to me. That is one of the biggest differentiations, the individualized instructors that you can talk to and have that one-on-one coaching and support with for whatever it is you are supposed to do,” said Judy.

We want to give a special thanks to Judy for helping to teach a variety of our classes from how to use Copper Customer Management to set up new guides and clients with Zoom meetings. Her patience, empathy, and support have helped students and most importantly our team feel confident in new skills.

We couldn’t be more appreciative of her hard work!
